What is Menopause?

Menopause is derived from the Latin word. It consists of two terms – Meno and pause. Meno means menstruation and pause means stop.

Women after reaching the age of their 40s or 50s, their reproductive hormones get stopped releasing thereby resulting in the complete stoppage of menstruation.  

Why is Menopause Alarming?

It’s the stage for women, indicating the upcoming diseases and conditions and various changes in the body. It’s not a disease but a set of conditions that includes various symptoms that need to be treated.

When does it Occur and What are the Symptoms?

It usually appears at the age of 45-50 years. Symptoms include but are not limited to: –

  • Hot flashes 
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Mood swings
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Headache
  • Difficulty to concentrate

  • Thinning hair and dry skin
  • Loss of breast fullness

1. Shatavari:

2. Ashoka Powder:

It’s a wonder herb. It can be consumed in the form of churna. It can improve ovarian functions.

3. Fenugreek Seeds:

These wonder seeds help in lowering the pitta dosha of the body and helps in hormonal balance to a great extent. These seeds can be soaked (1/2 teaspoon) overnight and can be consumed on an empty stomach.

4. Aloe Vera Gel:

It’s a great rehydrating agent. It consists of phytoestrogens that are useful in hormonal balance. It can be consumed in its pure gel form or from the market.

5. Arjuna: 

Due to low estrogen levels in the body, there will be a reduction in fat metabolism and cardiac function may suffer. So, Arjuna helps in the regulation of cardiac activity and keeps the blood pressure within the normal range.

6. Guggul: 

Weight gain is the most adverse symptom of Menopause, Guggul helps in the weight loss to keep her away from chronic disorders like diabetes and obesity.

7. Cardamom: 

It’s a great mood enhancer that helps in improving mental health by reducing anxiety, mood swings, insomnia, and depression.
